Director Joel Souza was released from the hospital after being accidentally wounded by Alec Baldwin

Joel Souza was injured while filming his new western movie “Rust” and spent the last few hours in the hospital.

Actress Frances Fisher said that Souza confirmed to her that he had left the hospital, and the same information was transmitted by Sky News.

Recall, Alec Baldwin fired from a prop gun on a filming set in New Mexico and on that occasion wounded Souza and killed director of photography Halyna Hutchins.

"The sheriff’s office confirms that two individuals were shot on the set of Rust. Halyna Hutchins, 42, director of photography and Joel Souza, 48, director, were shot when a prop firearm was discharged by Alec Baldwin, 68, producer and actor," said the official statement of Santa Fe Sheriff’s department.

Police are still investigating the incident at Bonanza Creek Ranch, a popular filming location, and no charges have been filed. In a statement to the AFP news agency, a Santa Fe sheriff's spokesman said Baldwin spoke to detectives.

"He came voluntarily and left the building after finishing the interviews," a spokesman said.
