The singer performed in Nashville on Sunday at a concert to fight breast cancer. Always upbeat and in a good mood, Dolly danced on stage and put on a show to remember.
As usual in her company her husband, businessman Carl Thomas Dean (78) could not be seen. They married in 1966. Sometimes, the public asked if there even is such a man as he successfully avoided the paparazzi for decades, but was photographed only in 2019th while going to the post office in Tennessee.
It is interesting how the couple, who have been together since 1964, manage to preserve their privacy throughout Dolly’s music career. The singer herself commented on the fact that people believe Carl doesn’t actually exist.
‘ A lot of people have thought that over the years because he doesn’t want to be under the spotlight at all. He simply is not like that. Carl is a quiet, reserved person and he has decided that he will never come into the public spotlight, he will no longer have a minute of peace if he does it and he is right about that, ' said Dolly.
Last year, Parton spoke in a rare interview about their relationship after so many years together. She said they maintain a passion for spontaneous but simple connections they make to each other.
‘I prepare food we both love and pack it in a picnic basket. We find some quiet place in nature and go there with our little camper. Or sometimes we travel to a motel, all that matters to us is that it has a clean bed and a bathroom ', said the musician.
She pointed out that Carl always tries to make her feel special and brings her a bouquet of daffodils in the spring as soon as the season starts. ‘He usually also writes me a song which is priceless to me,’ Dolly said. For his birthday, the singer always dresses like a Playboy bunny.
By the way, Dolly and Carl fell in love in 1964 at first sight when they met in front of laundry in Nashville. She was 18 at the time and he was 21.
‘My first thought was that I was going to marry that girl. God, how good she looked. That was the day my life began, ' he said in 2016 when the couple renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary.
