Don Everly, 85, a pioneer of country rock, has passed away
American country rock pioneer Don Everly, a member of the Everly Brothers duo, has died at the age of 85 after a career full of hits such as 'Bye Bye Love' and 'Wake Up Little Susie'
Don Everly’s death, at the age of 86, was reported on Saturday by the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee, which called him ‘one of the most talented and influential artists in the history of popular music’.
He was honored by, among others, Carole King, Roy Orbison Jr., and Julian Lennon.

The duo, credited with influencing rock and country singers for decades, was among the first to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, along with Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, and Jerry Lee Lewis. In 2001, they entered the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Don’s brother Phil Everly died in 2014 at the age of 76.
