EA makes new Lord of the Rings game
There's definitely good news and bad news for Lord of the Rings gamers today. The good news is that Electronic Arts (EA) is developing a new game based on JRR Tolkien's popular series, titled The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth. The bad news is that this is a collectible RPG for mobile devices.
Electronic Arts (EA) is cooperating with Middle Earth Enterprises on a new Lord of the Rings game, according to a press statement issued on May 9. The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth should be assigned to the collectible role-playing games.
As such, according to EA, it seeks to give a "strategic, social, competitive experience" that "enters players into the wonderful world and adventures of The Lord of the Rings."
However, for those addressed, the entire situation is most likely related to a large catch. Because Heroes of Middle-earth is expected to emerge exclusively for mobile platforms, it is a ("free to play") mobile game.
Furthermore, in the complete news release, EA's Vice President Malachi Boyle revealed that he was working "on the next generation of mobile role-playing games" with Middle-earths heroes.
The rather hazy information most likely indicates that both the game graphics and the cinematic animations will be styled. Furthermore, rather than giving a reunion with fan-favorite characters, the next mobile game is purely inspired by the Middle-earth depicted in JRR Tolkien's literary works.
Characteristics EA claimed an "engrossing" narrative, turn-based combat, "deep collecting mechanics," and a cast of characters from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit universes. Capital Games will create Heroes of Middle-earth (Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes). It will include microtransactions as well as random things.
Finally, EA stressed its specific relationship with Tolkien's works, which the Californian corporation does. Following the release of The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers for the Playstation 2, EA released seven further products in the Lord of the Rings universe, including Battle of Middle-earth for PC and successful RTS offshoots for multiple platforms. The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth has no set release date.
