Elden Ring and Nintendo Switch are the big winners in May
The NPD Group's market researchers have released their most recent numbers for the games and hardware industry in the United States for the month of May.
The NPD Group has disclosed data for video game software and hardware sales in the United States for the month of May 2022, which the market research firm's executive director, Mat Piscatella, shared on Twitter. According to Gamingbolt.com, there have been some surprising swings in the month's top-selling titles.
Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga, which topped the rankings in April, has dropped to second place, while Elden Ring has reclaimed first place. Elden Ring was the best-selling game on both Xbox and Steam in May, while coming in second on Playstation.

Meanwhile, Saber Interactive's multiplayer horror shooter Evil Dead: The Game, which ranks fourth on the new software charts, is the only new release in the top 50.
Notably, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has returned to the charts at number 20, with the majority of last month's sales coming from Steam. The long-running Bethesda favorite was last in this place in November 2017.
Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch was the month's best-selling console in terms of both revenue and units sold. Year to date, the Switch is the most popular platform in terms of units sold in the United States, while the Xbox Series X|S is the most popular in terms of dollar sales.
Meanwhile, spending on video game accessories is said to be down 7% year on year to $131 million, as well as down 14% year to far to $875 million.
