Elton John's lover was the godfather at his wedding! Unknown details from the famous singer's life
Elton John has had a tumultuous life
Much is known about British and world music legend Elton John because his life itself is intriguing.
Since the movie "Rocketman" came out, however, we have learned a little more than what an average fan could conclude from the tabloids and the Internet.
The pop star has always lived by his rules. His sexuality was the subject of rumor and speculation for a long time, and in 1976 he declared himself bisexual.
His family and friends knew that he was a homosexual, so the news that he was marrying a woman was a shock for everybody.
He met his ex-wife Renate Blauel while recording his hit "Don't Go Breaking My Heart". They got married in Australia, and their godfather was John Reid - Elton John's manager and lover.
"It was as if he had decided to adapt and have a 'normal' life," said journalist Leslie-Ann Jones on one occasion. "That didn't happen."
The marriage lasted for four years, and immediately after the divorce, Elton admitted that he was gay.

When, years later, same-sex marriage was made possible in Australia, the musician said:
"Many years ago, I chose Australia for my wedding to a beautiful woman who I still love and admire. More than anything, I wanted to be a good husband to her, but I denied who I really was, which caused sadness in my wife, and guilt and remorse in me."
This isn't the first time he's been with a woman - many years earlier he was engaged to a girl named Linda.
The singer is now married to David Furnish, who, as John has repeatedly pointed out, is the love of his life. The couple has two sons, who they got with the help of a surrogate mother and named them Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John and Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John.
