Fergie, the black sheep of the royal family: She was marked by divorce, lovers, bribes and severe bankruptcy

There are numerous scandals of the younger generations of the British royal family, but one of the biggest was afforded to Queen Elizabeth II (95) by Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, the Duchess of York,  Sarah Ferguson  (61), better known as Fergie. But before we go on to enumerate, let us recall her origins.

Sarah Margaret Ferguson, better known as Fergie, was born in 1959 to Ronald Ferguson and Susanna Wright. Her parents divorced in 1972, after which her mother remarried Argentine  Hector Barrantes and moved to South America. After graduating from high school, Sarah got a job at a London public relations firm.

Although they had known each other since childhood, it was not until 1985 that she began a love affair with Prince Andrew. It was all supposedly sponsored by Lady Di who seated them together at her wedding.

She married Andrew on July 23, 1986, when she and her husband received the titles of Duke and Duchess of York. In marriage, she gave birth to two daughters, Princesses  Beatrice (33) and   Eugenie  (31). But after the birth of their second child, marital problems surfaced. Namely, Sarah was increasingly lonely because of her husband's military career. She found solace in  Steve Wyatt, with whom she spent a holiday in Morocco. Two years later, photos of them at the pool were posted at the Paris Match, and the two of them had already announced their divorce by then.

The couple separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996, although they continued to share a house in Ascot and remained on good terms. Given that they were in such good relations, it was rumored that the Duchess of York would remarry Prince Andrew, with whom she had been formally divorced since the photo of her lover, John Bryan, kissing her feet, appeared on all the world's headlines.

Recall, until then, Queen Elizabeth II. was in favor of Fergie, so she spent her vacation with her family, despite the divorce. But those photos were the last drop, after which Sarah was sent to London.

The palace was then disgraced like never before. Although until then Fergie was dearer to her than Diana, Queen Elizabeth II  put her on the 'black list'. For years, the former wife of her youngest son was not even mentioned. She was especially despised by Prince Philip.

But with the release of photos with her lover, Fergie's dramas have just begun. Eleven years ago, a News of the World journalist caught Sarah ready to receive a $ 4.3 million bribe to arrange for him to meet her ex-husband, Prince Andrew. The story erupted like a fire on the covers of world media. Then Fergie repented, claiming that Andrew knew nothing about it.

- I deeply regret the shame I caused. It is true that my financial situation is very tense, but that is not an excuse for a serious assessment error and I am sincerely sorry for that - said Sarah at the time.

If you thought that was enough for her, you were wrong. In 2010, the Princess of York went bankrupt due to extravagance. She owed as much as five million pounds, so she could no longer fix even her favorite Bentley, and new creditors called her every day. When the debt rose to five million, her ex-husband Prince Andrew came to her aid, paying off part of the debt. For this, he reportedly sold a house in Sunninghill Park, where they once lived together.

Sarah had been at peace with the royal family for more than 10 years, not making the scandals she had once been prone to, and earning millions of dollars in America. Good conduct enabled her to have a good relationship with the queen. But then the news reached the queen that Sarah Ferguson was living 'extremely decadent' in America, where she concentrated most of her business.

Her endeverous around New York were amazing. During one, she bought as many as 20 pairs of shoes and boots for £ 3,000 and 12 Isabel Kristensen dresses for £ 50,000. In one store she spent £ 4,000 just on hair ornaments. She was able to do all this thanks to a bank loan that allowed her to go into a minus of £ 1 million. The second part of the debts arose on year-round vacations and skiing. Sarah ordered her servants, 11 of them permanent and occasional, to organize banquets "in the style of Henry VIII", at which vodka and champagne flowed in streams.

Senior advisers at Buckingham Palace proposed voluntary bankruptcy to her at the time, but Sarah hoped she would get away with it. She decided to write a book in hopes that it would help her. The book waited a bit, but not Oprah Winfrey with whom Fergie made the documentary ‘Finding Sarah’.

It shows in six sequels how Prince Andrew’s ex-wife is trying to build a new life and get rid of debts from the past. The audience could also see her confession in front of a controversial psychiatrist, Dr. Phil McGraw .

- Dear Diary. What have I done with my life? How could I be so wrong? After 25 years in front of the public eye, I got lost and that bothers me - says Sarah at the beginning of the documentary, which was supposed to provoke, and caused, the sympathy of the American public and a new financial beginning.

In the documentary, the duchess describes that she was desperate and how many jobs she failed at after the scandal, and then the story of humanitarian work and the signing of contracts for eight children's books.

- My financial situation is now under control and I am doing well. I have no more debts - said Sarah.
