Six times a week, holograms of the band members will 'perform' at the concert, followed by a ten-member live band that will play 22 of their biggest hits.
40 years break
Their last studio album “The Visitors” was released in November 1981 shortly before the band disbanded.
After that, they did not reunite on stage or in the studio for 40 years. The famous group has sold more than 400 million albums and influenced generations of pop musicians. With eight albums and more than 40 singles in less than a decade, the Swedish band ravaged the music scene in 1974 and became a cult sensation whose popularity has not waned to this day despite numerous changes in music trends.
Composed of two divorced couples today, the name ABBA is an acronym for the names of four members who are in their golden years today. Benny and Bjorn began composing together in 1966, and the quartet was formed three years later with the arrival of Agnetha and Anni-Frid. In 1973, the group, which adopted the ABBA title only a year later, failed to qualify for Eurovision at the Swedish national competition.
Waterloo
But as early as the following year, the then-unknown band caused a sensation by winning the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton with the song "Waterloo".
The song became a hit all over the continent and a new musical phenomenon was born. It was followed by hit after hit, including the 1975 single “Mamma Mia,” which toppled Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” to the top of the UK charts.
The following year, the album "Arrival" with songs like "Money, Money, Money", "Knowing Me, Knowing You" and "Dancing Queen" sold more than 10 million copies. Performed live for the first time at the wedding of the Swedish king in 1976, "Dancing Queen" became the international hit of the year.
“Take a Chance on Me” and “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)” cemented the star status of the Swedish group in the following years.
Two divorces and a breakup
Bjorn and Agnetha's divorce in 1979 was the beginning of the group's end and resulted in one of their most depressing songs "The Winner Takes It All" written by Bjorn and it put Agnetha in a strange position to sing a divorce song by her ex-husband.
A year later, the album "Super Trouper" was released, after which the group, as it turned out, played live for the last time. Benny and Frida divorced in 1981, and in 1982 the group announced they were taking a break that lasted to this day.
Despite numerous requests over the years, very few authors have received approval to sample their songs. When Madonna asked to sample “Gimme Gimme Gimme” for her 2005 hit “Hung Up,” she only got approval when ABBA heard the final version of her song.
