It is time to make room for new products in your cosmetic bag. If there is something worse than cleaning the closet that is cleaning the cosmetic bag. Wearing old clothes can't hurt us, but wearing dirty makeup can. When was the last time you cleaned your cosmetic bag? I believe no woman has not squeezed her favorite cosmetic product to the very last drop. And there are those women who keep certain products for „special occasions“.

A cosmetic product has its shelf life for a reason. Using the old perfume, for example, means that the original scent has changed, but using an old skincare product can lead to harmful compounds that will negatively affect our skin. The best example is sunscreen, it simply loses its protection.

Firstly, take all of the products you have in your cosmetic bag and check their expiration date. Get rid of any products that have expired. If you are not sure about some products, it is better to throw them away, than to risk an allergic reaction.
How do you clean your bag depends on the material it's made. In most cases, hand washes your bag with a gentle dishwashing detergent. To remove stubborn makeup, use what you would use on your face – makeup remover applied with a cotton pad or soft cloth.

The average life of skincare products is about two years, but it can change if the product is opened. This means, that it can stand unopened for two years, but when you open it that period becomes shorter.
Eye mascara has the shortest term because bacteria spread very fast. You should change your mascara every three to four months.

But powders and concealers can last much longer if you take care of them. They can last from 12 to 18 months, depending on the composition of the powder. Keep in mind that oil-based foundations last longer because oil is a natural preservative.
There is one simple trick to determine if the foundation is expired. If you notice that the oil separates and the foundation becomes thicker, it is time for the new product.

Blushes, highlighters, and bronzers also have a longer shelf life, and it is about 12 months.

Eye pencils can last a long time and you should change them in about two years.

Eyeshadow can last up to three years.

Lipstick on the other hand can last between 12 to 18 months. Just follow the texture and smell.

Don't get attached to your cosmetics. There will always be new products you need to try.
