Jamie Dornan describes 2021 as the worst year
Irish actor Jamie Dornan, star of Fifty Shades of Gray, recently told the story that last year, 2021, was the hardest and worst year of his life.
Irish actor Jamie Dornan, star of Fifty Shades of Gray, recently told the story that last year, 2021, was the hardest and worst year of his life. Although the actor has had successes in acting waters, he had a tragedy in his personal life early last year. His father died of coronavirus in March.
Due to all the restrictions implemented because of the Covid-19 pandemic and his very busy schedule, the family has so far failed to hold a funeral.
Furthermore, the actor was quarantined in Australia just before he was supposed to start filming his much-praised series “The Tourist”. His father was meanwhile in a completely different country, so unfortunately they were separated from each other due to the corona outbreak for more than a year.
Lorna, Jamie’s mother also suffered from cancer, more precisely, pancreatic cancer. Jamie was barely sixteen when his mother passed away prematurely. So we can conclude that Jamie was basically raised by his father, and how much his death pains him is unimaginable.
“It's weird to end the year with all this positivity, with all this praise for 'Belfast' and a lot of good things about 'The Tourist',” the 39-year-old actor told The Telegraph. “This has been the worst and most difficult year of my life,” added the “Fifty Shades of Gray” star.
In the interview, he added that he was very close to his father and that his death had affected him terribly. Due to the tight filming schedule and strict measures, the actor did not see his father Jim for 18 months before he passed away.
It saddens him that his father will never see his latest film Belfast. The action takes place in the 1960s and follows the life of an Irish working family and the childhood of a young son of the said family. In the film, Dornan plays his father, and the character's incarnation was greatly influenced by his father.
Only words of praise for his father
Jamie had ever only spoken of his father in high regard.
“You can search for a long time, it would be very difficult to find anything negative to say about my father. He was a beacon of positivity, ”said the 50 shades of Gray actor. “His kindness, his willingness to talk to everyone. He used to say, "You treat the person who cleans the courthouse the same way you treat the judge. Dad had time for everyone. ”
“I have tried to integrate this into my own life. We are talking about a professor of medicine [his father’s profession was that of an obstetric gynecologist], an incredibly intelligent man. He was so positive, ” added the almost 40, acclaimed actor.“ He would always say, 'Okay, this and that happened, how do we go forward and get something good out of it?' ”
His biggest support in this harsh time is, of course, his wife Amelia Warner. The couple met in 2013 and after only two years decided to say yes to each other in the English Somerset countryside. Their marriage has fortunately been blessed by three amazing children.
