John F. Kennedy's alleged mistress opened up and revealed details of their relationship that was not in the least romantic
In a story published these days, Diana de Vegh claims that she was in an extramarital affair with the late US President John F. Kennedy and that their story began when she was only 20 years old.
A woman who claims to have been one of Kennedy’s mistresses decided to tell her story, writing it herself for Air Mail. The story of today’s 83-year-old Diane de Vegh was released this Saturday and, among other things, contains details of her alleged affair with 35th US President John F. Kennedy when she was 20, and he was twice her age.
Diana de Vegh thus revealed that it all began in 1958 after Kennedy told her several times that she was special. It was those words that caught her attention, but she also admitted that their story was not the least bit romantic and that it took her years to recover from the affair, as well as years to muster the courage to tell her story.
As she said, she didn't mind in the least that Kennedy was married. 'He never mentioned her, so I didn't think about her either,' reads the published story. Kennedy married Jackie Kennedy in 1953, and in 1963, after being assassinated, she was left a widow with two minor children. However, the fact that he was married did not prevent him in the least from having fun with other women.
'A miracle happened in that apartment. He looked at me so sincerely and I knew how he felt about me. I didn’t even question at the time, that deep connection we had. It was love, for sure, 'said De Vegh, aware that their relationship had begun at that moment, but also without thinking about the possible consequences.
As time went on, their relationship became increasingly tense, especially after Kennedy became politically stronger. Despite everything, she decided to stay with him, which is why she dropped out of further education and moved to Washington, where in 1960 he was elected American president.
Just before the election, De Vegh said her father attended a business dinner with Kennedy, unaware that he was sitting with his daughter’s lover, and JFK wasn't aware of the situation as well. He only realized who her father was during the preparations for his inauguration when the two of them had already moved away. She later realized that she was just a number on his long list of affairs.
‘The man I thought I had a love affair with simply didn’t know how to connect the dots. On the contrary, he wanted to isolate me from everything and to make me look forward to his every visit. '
As she said, at that time, rumors and certain names associated with Kennedy began to reach her, and although she did not know any of these girls personally, the jealousy of the 22-year-old led her to obsessively investigate them.
During one of the last encounters, she accused him of not loving her anymore, and at that moment she realized that he had been avoiding her in every way lately. The relationship came to an end, and De Vegh left her job at the National Security Council and started a new life in Paris. There she found happiness working in social service, only to eventually open a private psychotherapy practice.
