Matthew and Keeley together in new ITV drama

The pair have been married since 2004.

Keeley Hawes and Matthew Macfadyen are ready to reconnect for a new ITV drama, twenty years after they originally met on the set of the spy drama Spooks.

Stonehouse will see the real-life pair, who met in 2002 and married two years later in 2004, play disgraced Labour minister John Stonehouse and his wife Barbara, to tell the tale of how the politician fell from grace following a series of headline-making incidents.

The series was written by famed writer John Preston and will be directed by award-winning filmmaker Jon S Baird and will premiere later this year or early in 2023.

According to ITV's official synopsis, "the three-part story tells how Stonehouse, a high-flying spokesperson of Harold Wilson's Government, completely vanished from the seaside of a massive luxury resort in Florida in November 1974, choosing to leave a neatly folded bag of clothes as he swam into the sea, intent on falsifying his death."

"As the shocked public and media assumed he had died or been attacked by sharks, the MP for Walsall North left behind his dear wife Barbara and three little kids."

Several notable stars will appear in the series with Matthew and Keeley, such as Showtrial actress Emer Heatley, All Creatures Great and Small actress Dorothy Atkinson, No Looking Back actor Igor Grabuzov, and Kevin R McNally, well known for his work in The Crown and Unforgotten.

"What occurred to John Stonehouse is the stuff of legend," Succession actor Matthew stated of the fascinating new project. I've always been curious about what drove him to stage his own death and abandon the family he adored and a potential political future.

"I'm thrilled to be portraying him since John Preston's screenplay elegantly depicts the guy and his fascinating history."
Matthew and Keeley have been together for 18 years. The brilliant couple met while both portraying British agents on the BBC One program Spooks and instantly fell in love. They now have two children, Maggie, 17, and Ralph, 15. Keeley already has a 20-year-old son, Myles, with her ex-husband Spencer McCallum.
