Matthew Perry's memoirs are coming soon!
Actor Matthew Perry has released the cover of his book, which should go on sale this fall. It is speculated that he will talk about his struggle with addiction in it.
Actor Matthew Perry has finally decided to tell his side of the story. The ‘Friends’ series star has announced that he is releasing his memoirs. Perry posted on his Instagram the cover of a book called ‘Friends, Lovers and the Big Scary Thing’, which is adorned with a photo of him. The book should hit stores on November 1 this year. Foreign media speculate that the ‘big scary thing’ in the title could describe the actor’s struggle with addiction.
'So much has been written about my past. I thought it was time for people to hear my side of the story, 'Perry wrote with a photo of the book on Instagram. ‘I survived to tell the story, although sometimes it seemed like it wasn’t going to be that way. And everything is here ', added the actor.
Matthew is best known for his role in the comedy series ‘Friends’ in which he played Chandler Bing from 1994 to 2004. At last year’s gathering with colleagues from the series, he worried fans with his strange behavior. It was later revealed that he had an emergency dental procedure that day. He refuted rumors that began circulating after the actor's fans watched the footage and immediately began linking his condition to his former struggle with alcoholism. Despite being adored by many for his sympathy and superb humor, even that didn’t save him from reducing negative comments at the expense of his looks.
By the way, Perry’s addiction began with Vicodin, a drug he received after suffering a jet ski accident. The doctor prescribed him medicine to reduce his pain, but it caused the actor to become addicted because he could no longer function without it. After he became famous with ‘Friends’, his struggle with alcoholism also began.
'I was filming a series from the age of 24 to 34. I was in the hot flames of glory. The six of us were everywhere together then. From the perspective of some observer, it seemed like I had it all. In fact, I was very lonely because I was struggling with alcoholism. This has happened before 'Friends', although I have never been a party member,' said the actor.
He eventually applied to a rehabilitation center. But this was not the end, so in 2011 he applied to the institution. After that, the actor became a vocal advocate of those struggling with addictions. 'I developed completely different respect for myself and for life when I went through such a difficult experience, 'said Perry.
