Will Ferrell reveals the reason he refused $ 29 million to shoot a sequel to the hit film
Nearly two decades after portraying the beloved Buddy Elf in the holiday hit comedy "Elf" from 2003, actor Will Ferrell explained why he refused to shoot a sequel, despite a huge fee.
The film, which also starred James Caan, Bob Newhart, Ed Asner, and Zooey Deschanel, was a surprising hit, grossing $ 224 million worldwide and having a budget of $ 33 million.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ferrell revealed that he refused to shoot the sequel, as well as a fee of about 29 million dollars, writes Daily Mail.
The script for the sequel was written, but Ferrell decided not to participate in the project because he thought that he could not sincerely promote the film because it is essentially the same as the original.

"I would have to promote the film from an honest place, which would be like, 'Oh, no, it's not good.' I just couldn’t refuse that much money. And I thought - can I really say those words? I don't think I can, so I guess I can't make a film," Ferrell said, emphasizing that the decision to decline the role in the film was an easy one.
