Miranda Lambert's bittersweet childhood

The country singer has an upbeat outlook on life. Miranda Lambert is extremely appreciative of all she has and is always looking for the bright side of things. While the country singer had a wonderful upbringing, she was forced to deal with a horrible scenario when her family became homeless when she was just six years old. "We were homeless," Miranda said to Robin Roberts on Good Morning America in 2010. "It seems strange to say that now, considering our good fortune." Miranda's parents' business had failed, and they were behind on their mortgage payments. She stated, "All of a while, the bank approaches you and says, 'I need the keys.'The family moved in with relatives until discovered a historic house in Lindale, Texas, that was about to be demolished.

They were able to persuade the owner to let them dwell in the house in exchange for some repairs. "Because so many of the windows were boarded up, we never had central heating." So, if you needed to use the restroom in the middle of the night, you had to dash because it was frigid!" This incident influenced her, and her popular song The House That Built Me was inspired by it. Although she did not create it, it reflects her childhood home, and when she heard it, she knew she had to make it her own. In a previous interview with the Associated Press about the song, her parents choked back tears as they recounted the mansion that resurrected their family. "When we first bought that house, we rented it and refurbished it, and it was the house that helped us get where we are now." Miranda's mother Beverly remarked, "We didn't realize it at the time, but it did."

"We had no food in our house," Richard, fighting back tears, said "It was a difficult era because I felt like it was our responsibility, even though it wasn't my fault... I had a hard time with it." Miranda then conveyed her appreciation for the occasion, adding,"All that being said, it's a tragic tale, but it's also a really joyful story because it brought our family back together." "It made us stronger than we'd ever been before." I want to have a family one day and not have to go through the hardships I experienced to get there, but I'm glad I did because I now know how to develop that in my own life."
