 Monitors with built-in docking stations

Docking stations have become a common way to increase the number of connections on a laptop or desktop computer in recent years. What if we could remove the physical housing and merely kept the functionality?

We don't disagree with your decision to buy a docking station. It's a terrific gizmo that makes working on your computer a breeze. The truth is that we require an increasing number of gadgets for work and enjoyment, and manufacturers simply cannot install an adequate number of connectors.

Classic laptops and two-in-one laptops with an exclusive USB-C connection, HDMI, or DisplayPort connection are already available. Because many devices still require a USB-A port, and if you wish to expand your desktop with a second monitor, you must rely on external solutions (docking stations) to increase connectivity.

What's the problem with docking stations?

Actually, nothing, but there is always a better way. Manufacturers have discovered a way to utilize docking station capabilities while discarding their physical shape and easily incorporating all of this straight into the monitor.

You will finally be able to clear the cable highway from the table, and the docking station from which the cables are strewn will no longer be the focal point on the table.

Your workplace desk will now stand out for its clean and simple design, while you anticipate the extra utility that a USB-C connection will provide.

At online merchants, you may find a variety of monitors with USB-C ports. The first distinction is the number of USB, video, and audio ports on each. They also differ in display technology (IPS, TN, VA), resolution, size, and other image-adjustment functions, as is customary.

Basic monitors with USB-C stations can have only one USB-C port and, ideally, another HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB-A port. These are entry-level models for consumers who have never required a docking station with numerous connectors.

However, even with a single USB-C connection, you can greatly simplify your job and keep your office desk tidy. Because of its versatility and performance, the USB-C (3.0, 3.1, or 3.2) connection provides numerous alternatives.

You may charge your laptop while the image is displayed by connecting it to a monitor with a USB-C station. The same is true for all other smart gadgets that enable charging via USB-C (smartphones, tablets, and VR glasses) ().

Pricier USB-C monitors, of course, have more ports and are more liberal with them. In addition to the USB-C connection, there will almost probably be USB-A connectors, one or more DisplayPort and HDMI connectors, an RJ-45 connector, and slightly older VGA / DVI ports.

All you have to do is select the screen size, display technology, and find a monitor with a USB-C port that meets your budget.

We discovered a monitor for each of the three price groups within the set (basic, medium, premium).

We went for a 23.8-inch (60.45-centimeters) display with a Lenovo ThinkVision T24i-2L USB-C dock.

It has an IPS screen with FHD resolution and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. It also has practically no frames NearEdgeless, Eyesafe eye protection with TÜV Rheinland certification.

Key features:

  • 4x USB 3.2 Gen1
  • VGA, DisplayPort 1.2, and HDMI 1.4 connectors
  • Brightness 350 cd / m 2
  • IPS Full HD resolution

We chose a 27-inch (68.58-centimeter) Samsung B2B S27A800UJU monitor for the middle class, which has 4K Ultra HD resolution (3840 x 2160), an IPS panel, a good response time of 5ms, HDR10 technology, and a flexible stand with rotation.

Among the connectors you will find:

  • 3x USB-A, USB-C 90W, USB-Hub
  • HDMI in DisplayPort

We chose the Dell U4919DW display for the most ardent monitor fans. This curved monster boasts a diagonal of 49 inches (124.5 cm), IPS technology, 2x QHD resolution, and a luminance of 350 cd / m 2.

The curved design provides a greater viewing angle, and the screen can be separated into various sections, making it simple to increase your productivity. The monitor offers an HDMI input, a USB-C output, and up to 5 USB-A 3.0 ports for connecting computer accessories.
