IBM buys Randori to boost its preventive response systems to cyber attacks

It is unknown how much IBM spent for the company, which was announced as part of the RSAC 2022 security conference, which is being conducted in a hybrid style in San Francisco. IBM plans to reinforce its hybrid cloud approach in terms of security with its technology and products, and one of the things it seeks to push is client assistance via cloud-based solutions rather than on-premises solutions.

Randori's technology is in charge of monitoring and analyzing the networks of the organizations it serves, as well as their devices, for flaws and gaps through which attackers could enter. Essentially, it is in charge of duplicating cybercriminals' attacks in order to help prevent them. Furthermore, it enables security teams to rectify problems before cyber attacks occur. On your local PCs as well as in the cloud.

When the company's acquisition is completed, which is likely in the coming months, IBM intends to include its software into one of its products, QRadar XDR, a suite of extended detection and response tools.

They also intend to deploy CART technology, which allows security teams to test the status and strength of their security defenses, to boost the capacity and capabilities of their X Force Red offensive security services team. IBM-managed security systems will use Randori's system information to better threat detection.

According to Mary O'Brien, IBM Security's Head, her clients are "facing the management of a complex technology landscape, with increased cyberattacks on applications running in a variety of hybrid cloud environments: from public clouds to private clouds to on-premises. In this context, enterprises must arm themselves with an attacker perspective to assist them to identify their most crucial blind spots and focus their efforts on areas that will minimize business disruption, revenue loss, and reputational harm."

Brian Hazzard, one of Randori's founders and CEO, says that they created Randori "to ensure that any business had access to the attacker's perspective. To remain ahead of today's dangers, you must understand what you're vulnerable to and how attackers perceive your environment. That is exactly what Randori provides. We can expedite this vision and plan by utilizing IBM's strong expertise in artificial intelligence, threat intelligence, offensive security, and global reach. We can arm the industry with the attacker's perspective, providing every company with the visibility and intelligence it needs to remain ahead of the next wave of attacks."
