New BGT series edgy kick-off

Simon Cowell has started the new series of Britain's Got Talent by being ruthless towards David Walliams.

Simon, who recently proposed Lauren Silverman - seemingly had a lot of fun at David's expense. The beloved but often offensive judge poked at his colleagues' short-lived marriage to ex-wife Lara Stone.

Nonetheless, Simon getting engaged became the main topic of conversation amongst the other judges. The engagement was even featured in one of the first acts in the competition, as one of the members of a dance troupe was impersonating David, he sat on Simon‘s knee asking him for his hand in marriage.

Simply put, after the fun routine, David tried to show off his funny side, but, Simon certainly had the last laugh.

"It was good you brought it up to date with the engagement," David told the auditionees during his feedback.

"I mean, they only had a kid seven years go. He took his time."

Simon’s answer was incisive: "Hopefully mine will last longer than your's David!"

David's marriage to the Duch supermodel ended in 2015, after just five years. The couple met in 2009, and the comedian popped the question after just a few months of dating. Their wedding was held at London's Claridge's Hotel in May 2010. The pair announced they are expecting a baby in December 2012 and Alfred, their first child was born on May 6 2013.

In March 2015 the ex-couple had a trial separation which ended in their divorce, six months later.

Simon, back to you! Following a nine-year romance and an accident that made Simon change his anti-marriage point of view, he finally decided to propose to the mother of his child and his ``rock Lauren Silverman.

Incredibly, the accident and the lockdown brought the couple closer together as they are known to be ridiculously, nauseatingly in love – getting out of the ordeal stronger than ever, as sources close to the happy couple say.

"Lauren was absolutely stunned and never in a million years expected Simon to pop the question. She burst into tears - happy tears - and obviously said 'yes' straight away."

Finally, the famous talent scout has more good news to be celebrating. At last, BGT is back after the pandemic postponed the recording of the new season. The judges are reunited and the filming started at the London Palladium and we can expect BGT on ITV later this year.
