Price of Surface SE laptop with Windows 11 SE is a real alternative to the Chromebook
Microsoft has just unveiled Windows 11 SE made for education hardware along with an ultra-cheap Surface notebook for schools. Microsoft Surface SE is the first Surface notebook ever made specifically for students. It will be launched at a price of $ 249 and comes packed with Microsoft 365 apps and support for third-party apps like Zoom and Chrome.
If we look deeper into Windows 11 SE without any prior knowledge of this operating system, the idea of supporting third-party applications may seem strange. Windows 11 SE is an operating system designed for students, created "based on feedback from teachers." As Chrome OS has Google applications assigned, so does Windows 11 SE with the implication that Microsoft applications will be central to the user experience. Windows 11 SE is "optimized for the most commonly used educational experiences," said a Microsoft spokesman, "including Microsoft 365 applications."
However, it is important to note that Microsoft makes it clear that it does not restrict the use of non-Microsoft apps but only ensures that there is a certain level of control. They mentioned Zoom and Chrome (web browser) specifically as applications that will also support Windows 11 SE.
The first device to run Windows 11 SE is the Microsoft Surface Laptop SE. This laptop is "the most affordable Surface PC ever" with a starting price of approximately $ 250.
This device has an 11.6-inch TFT LCD screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels (138 PPI). It has 4GB or 8GB of DDR4 RAM, as well as an Intel Celeron N4020 or N4120 processor and Intel UHD Graphics 600. The battery in this machine provides what Microsoft describes as "up to" 16 hours of battery life.
This laptop has a 1MP front camera with the ability to record 720p video at 30fps. The Surface Laptop SE has 2W stereo speakers and one digital microphone.
For IT professionals, the most important part about the Surface Laptop SE is the ability to repair the hardware. Microsoft noted that the screen, keyboard, battery, and motherboard will be "easy-to-repair components" in this laptop. The next most affordable Surface machine at the moment is the Surface Go 3, priced at approximately $ 450.
The Surface Laptop SE will have a release date in early 2022. At the moment, this laptop can be seen in the Microsoft Store, noting that it will be available from next year.
