Rolling Stone: This is the best song of all time
Reputable music magazine Rolling Stone has for the first time in 17 years remade its list of the top 500 best songs of all time.
The original list was released in 2004, and a lot has changed since then, some new artists have matured, and some new musical expressions have found their way to the list.
More than 250 artists, musicians, producers, critics, and journalists took part in the selection of the best songs, and the list included as many as 254 new songs.
The top spot was taken the legendary song "Respect" performed by Aretha Franklin from 1967. The song was originally recorded by Otis Redding, but it was in Aretha's performance that gave the song the greatest popularity.
Fight the Power (1989) performed by Public Enemy earned the title of the second-best, and the third place is occupied by A Change Is Gonna Come (1964) by Sam Cooke.
This is followed by Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone (1965), then Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit (1991).
Marvin Gaye finished in sixth place with the song What's Going On (1971), then Strawberry Fields Forever (1967) by the legendary Beatles in seventh place, Get Ur Freek On (2001) by Missy Elliot was at No. 8, Dreams (1977) by Fleetwood Mac at No. 9, while the Top 10 list is concluded by the song Hey Ya! (2003) performed by Outcast.
