Since yesterday, you can watch the documentary "Shania Twain: Not Just A Girl" on Netflix about the famous singer Shania Twain, showing how she went from being a new face in Nashville to becoming a world music icon that transcends genres and boundaries, triumphs and problems. "Not Just A Girl" is the story of a woman who decided to build her own path.
In parallel with the documentary, a compilation album called "Not Just A Girl (The Highlights)" was released, which, apart from the new eponymous song, includes some of her biggest hits in order of appearance in the documentary. The physical edition of the album will be available at the beginning of September, while the digital edition is already available on all music platforms.
Since the 1990s, Shania Twain has been considered one of the most important leaders of feminism, whose actions helped women feel empowered. With her music, she broke records, gathered a huge international fan base, gained world fame, and created a catalog of timeless hits.
"Not Just A Girl" takes viewers back to where it all began, in Timmins, Ontario, where we can see the singer growing up in poverty, drawing inspiration from Dolly Parton's life story. We then follow her development from her first signing to a record label in Nashville to when she met her future husband, producer Matt Lang before writing, recording, and releasing her breakthrough album, ‘The Woman In Me’.
