Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” song recently gained more than a billion views on YouTube, becoming the third song from the 1980s to do so.
Released in 1983 on MTV, a video directed by Steve Barron in which Jackson dances to light the sidewalk he walks on, has averaged 600,000 daily views this year.
Of the musicians from the eighties, only Guns N 'Roses with Sweet Child O'Mine from 1988 and the group a-ha from Take On Me from 1984 crossed the border of one billion views.
The Billie Jean song, written by Jackson and produced by the famous Quincy Jones, won two Grammys.
The song Thriller, after which the album with those two songs is named, is also approaching a billion views - it is currently at 765 million.
According to some sources, Baby Shark has the most views on YouTube, as many as 8.8 billion, followed by Luis Fonsi's Despacito with 7.2 and Ed Sheeran's Shape of you with 5.3 billion.
