The breathtaking beauty of the Cinque Terre

The Cinque Terre is located south of Genoa, in northwestern Italy. There are many who talk about the Cinque Terre as one place, but this is actually part of the Italian Riviera, consisting of 5 villages - hence the name of this resort. Cinque Terre in translation means just that - Five lands (places).

Enumerating from north to south, this beautiful Italian Riviera consists of the villages: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. These charming Italian villages have their own beauty, with houses of pastel colors and impressive sea views, and with special characters. What they have in common is that they do not leave anyone indifferent, so every year, from summer vacations in the Cinque Terre, as well as cruises where they visit this area, travelers bring the best impressions. There is no doubt that it will make the Cinque Terre trip quite special and extremely charming, and below you will find out why a trip to the Cinque Terre you will never forget.

First of all, Cinque Terre is a trip that means that you will get to know at least one, and maybe all the villages that are part of this area. These villages, as we have stated, have an authentic charm, and we decided to introduce you to each one individually.

Riomaggiore has one main street, a harbor, a rocky beach, a castle, a church, a pharmacy, and a huge number of restaurants. This village also has an excellent connection and is the closest to La Spezia.

If you head north of Riomaggiore, you will come across another village, called Manarola. This village consists of one street, with a small natural harbor where you can swim. In this village, there is also an impressive place where some of the best photos from the Cinque Terre are taken. This village is similar to Riomaggiore, but it is much quieter and provides a relaxing atmosphere.

The baby of this family of 5 members and the smallest of all is the village of Corniglia. It is a rebel, built on rocks, above the ocean. To get to the center of Corniglia you need to climb 365 steps. If you are planning a trip to the Cinque Terre, and you have a lot of luggage - this is not a place you want to stay, but you should definitely visit it.

The beauty queen of Cinque Terre is called Vernazza. Vernazza is very popular, visited and really beautiful! Also, this village is very photogenic, so there is no doubt that you should visit it and take photos. Vernazza has a fortress, the remains of old walls, which served as protection from pirates, a beautiful square by the sea, as well as a harbor of fine, golden sand, which should rather be called a beach, given how much people like to swim here.

The northernmost village of the Cinque Terre is called Monterosso al Mare. The biggest child in the family, if we continue with the family analogy. Monterosso has several streets, and its land is not "vertical", as in others - you can spend the whole day in Monterosso, without climbing a single step. Monterosso is made up of the old and new town, with many sandy beaches and large hotels located on the promenade next to the beach.

The Cinque Terre dates back to the 1200s. The roads in the Cinque Terre are winding, and the houses are spread across a hilly area, and although most face the sea directly, they are located far above the water surface. You may be wondering how they maintain balance at all, but they are completely safe, don't worry!

This hilly area means that you will cross a huge number of steps by visiting this part of the Italian Riviera, but it is worth it - the panoramas are amazing, and the houses in pastel colors will fascinate you!
