The curse of the Oscars did not bypass her either: For Halle Berry after the historic victory, everything went downhill

Although she tried her best, Halle Berry could not avoid what Hollywood calls the 'curse of the Oscars'. Namely, after she won the Oscar in 2002 for the best leading female role in Lee Daniels' film 'Monster's Ball', everyone expected that the directors would overwhelm her with offers for new films, but that did not happen.

The curse of the Oscars did not bypass her either: For Halle Berry after the historic victory, everything went downhill

Although she won her golden statuette almost 20 years ago, for her role in the film 'Monster's Ball'Halle Berry has only now revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that she was surprised that new offers did not start arriving after the Oscars.

'When you have such a historic victory, it's normal to think that everything will change now. And it changed, for me, but my status in the film business didn’t change overnight. I still had to work hard. I still had to fight for every role in impossible situations, 'said Halle Berry, who in 2002 became the first black woman to win an Oscar in the category of the leading female role.

After winning the statuette, everything seemed to go downhill, so two years later she earned four Golden Raspberries for the role of 'Cat Woman', a counterpart to the Oscars, but for the worst acting and film achievements.

Currently, Halle Berry is starring in the film ' Bruise ', which is also her directorial debut and deals with the return of the embarrassed MMA fighter to the ring. She got the role after it was turned down by Blake Lively. "They gave me the script and I was thrilled with the role, but it was written for a 20-year-old white woman, an Irishwoman and a Catholic," revealed 55-year-old Halle Berry and continued:

'But I couldn't get it out of my head and I started thinking about making modifications for someone like me, for someone fighting for their last chance, not someone who needs another chance.'

Netflix reportedly paid the actress $ 20 million for worldwide distribution and film rights, and it should all start airing on November 24th.
