The Last of Us will have a second season
In terms of series, The Last of Us has become the first big success of 2023.
The first episode of the series already has 22 million viewers in the United States alone, with 4.7 of them accessing this content as it was broadcast, a number that increased with the launch of the second episode, which reached an audience of 5 7 million.
Social media has been flooded with thoughts about HBO Max's latest premiere, and while there are some bad reviews (with special reference to those who did not find Bella Ramsey attractive enough... yep, those people), the general consensus is very positive.
This did not come as a surprise, as we had several glimpses of what HBO was cooking over the past year, first in August and later in September, and since its release date was known, something we anticipated in December, January 15 was marked on the calendar of many people: those who have enjoyed PlayStation games, fans of post-apocalyptic and/or zombie content, and others, placed high expectations on the adaptation to And, despite the rarity, they were not disappointed this time.
Thus, even though the third episode of the third season has yet to be released, WarnerMedia has officially confirmed the renewal for a second season of The Last of Us in an official statement. In this statement, the corporation praises the new series' fantastic results, repeating both the audience figures that we already discussed, as well as the positive reviews, with no less than 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and reviews published on media such as Rolling Stone and Variety. To that end, WarnerMedia confirms that the launch of The Last of Us on HBO Max was the second most successful in the platform's history, trailing only House of the Dragon.
The Last of Us is one of those rare occasions in which a film adaptation or series based on a video game succeeds. Recent examples include Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, based on the CD Projekt Red title, and Arcane, inspired by the League of Legends universe. The list is far longer in the opposite direction, that is, in failed adaptations, as you are already aware.
