The most beautiful places to visit in Malaga

Malaga is a large city in the south of Spain and is one of the most important tourist destinations in that country, Europe, and the Mediterranean. Malaga is the capital and geographical center of the Costa del Sol, a tourist zone that stretches from Nerja to Manila (eastern and western borders of the province of Malaga), with a total of 160km of beach.

Malaga is the birthplace of the painter Pablo Picasso. Malaga is a city of wide avenues with palm trees, intense nightlife, museums, and a city of excellent restaurants with fish specialties. The coast has a great geographical position: the surrounding mountains protect it from the north winds, which gives it a moderately high temperature and about 300 sunny days a year.

The Moors held Malaga until the middle of the 15th century, turning it into one of the most important trade centers on the Iberian Peninsula. This part of the history has left its mark in the historic center of Malaga, especially in the vicinity of Alcazaba, a fortress dating back to 1065, which has now been turned into an archeological museum.

It is also worth visiting the nearby castle which was reconstructed by the Moors and which is now a tourist stop, with impressive panoramas and views. During the 19th century, as an elegant and sophisticated city, Malaga was a popular winter destination for wealthier people. The impressive Paseo del Parque dates from that period and is known as one of the largest botanical treasures in Europe.

The main theater in Malaga is the Cervantes Theatre, where Antonio Banderas stepped on the stage for the first time. In addition to being a major cultural center, Malaga is also the perfect city to enjoy food. Malaga residents love typical cuisine as well as enjoying bars and restaurants.

Malaga is especially famous for fried fish, such as sardines, salmon, which are served with a glass of cold white wine from one of the many old wine cellars. Malaga has the largest number of golf courses in the world, and it is often called the "Golf Coast".

Today, Malaga is proud of its status as a modern city, whose shopping center is on Larios Street, which is also a great place to start exploring the city because it is surrounded by smaller streets and squares that make up the historic center of Malaga.

Those who love gardens will also enjoy! There is beautiful Alameda, and at the very exit that leads to the road, in the northern part of Malaga, there is the Botanical Garden, designed in the English style that preserves 150 years of history.
