The Motorola Razr 2022: Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1
It appears like Motorola intends to show off the Motorola Razr 2022, a smartphone that, based on what we know so far, promises to be one of the most intriguing offerings this year.
And it is that, in a landscape of folding smartphones that is still in its infancy but is unquestionably dominated by Samsung for the time being, it is more than healthy to see how more companies reinforce their commitment to this market, even if there are still doubts about whether it will become popular in the future more or less.
With the release of the Motorola Razr G5 more than two years ago, the Lenovo group firm took an interesting approach to folding, with which it also partially recovered the design of the legendary Motorola Razr V3 from 2004, a phone prior to the era of smartphones, but almost twenty years later it lingers in the memory of many, to the point where some consider its design to be the most beautiful in the entire history of mobile telephony.
As previously said, the Motorola Razr 5G attempted to recapture the spirit of the V3, but its component selection was ultimately disappointing.
Its Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, 128 gigabytes of RAM, and the primary sensor of its 16-megapixel camera were more typical of a mid-range device than a 1,499 dollar smartphone. Although it was foldable and had several novel functions, the value for money made it a dubious purchase.
According to 9to5Google, Lenovo appears to have taken note of this experience and, as a result, the increasingly close Motorola Razr 2022 will not fall short in these areas. And, while it was previously assumed that the SoC in charge would be a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, it appears that Lenovo has decided to go a step further, and the Motorola Razr 2022 will be one of the first smartphones to be equipped with the recently released Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
Qualcomm indicated in the announcement of this new SoC that the first smartphones with it would hit the market in the third quarter of this year, which corresponds to conjecture and rumors that the Motorola Razr 2022 will hit the market in July. If this is the case, Motorola will be the first manufacturer to release a handset featuring the latest recent Snapdragon SoC.
