The Subaru Solterra is an electric SUV

Subaru has announced next year the arrival of its first all-electric SUV, the Solterra, their most technologically advanced vehicle to date, keeping pace with new trends.

The prevailing trends in today's world of cars are very clear - everyone who can, switches to electric drives, and almost all manufacturers have already presented or announced their SUVs, as the most popular choice of customers around the world. These two trends have now been combined by Subaru in its new electric SUV Solterra, announced for next year.

The Solterra, they say, is the most technologically advanced car of their brand so far. It is built on the new electric e-Subaru Global Platform, developed by this manufacturer in collaboration with Toyota. If Solterra seems somehow familiar to you, that’s the reason. Namely, this car is almost the twin brother of Toyota's eSUV BZ4X .

In the body of the city SUV, Solterra also brings equipment ready to tackle difficult terrain. For example, the floor of the vehicle is raised from the ground by as much as 21 cm, thus enabling the passage over larger obstacles.

There is also a symmetrical all-wheel drive with a traction system prepared for all weather conditions and substrates. Solterra is powered by two electric motors with a total power of 215 hp, which accelerates this model from 0 to 100 km / h in about 6.5 seconds.

The interior features a digital cockpit with a large 12.3-inch touchscreen (again familiar from Toyota), a spacious passenger cabin, and a trunk volume of up to 850 liters, with a folded rear bench.

Subaru points out that this model will be as durable and high-quality as their other models - namely, 96% of cars of this brand sold in the last 10 years are still on the road. That, they say, is a record figure in the automotive industry.

Solterra will go into production this year when only 6,500 units will be assembled, and full serial production will begin in 2023, which also stands as the official designation of the new model. Prices have not been announced yet.
