The trailer for Ari Aster's new film 'Beau Is Afraid' is out!
In the film previously known as 'Disappointment Blvd.' the main role is played by Joaquin Phoenix.
A24 has finally released the first trailer for “Beau Is Afraid", Ari Aster's mysterious project starring Joaquin Phoenix. The film formerly known as “Disappointment Blvd ” is the third partnership between Aster and A24.
So far, we don't know much information about Aster's new film. Since the director comes from the horror tradition, the film was expected to contain elements of horror, but the brief description of the plot only hinted that the story revolves around one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time and tells about his career. The first posters on the Internet showed a bizarrely aged Phoenix, which confirmed that the director's usual strangeness will be present in the new project.
Judging by the trailer, “Beau Is Afraid” falls somewhere between horror and indie adventure films. The trailer opens with a disturbing moment from Beau's childhood as he recalls his complicated relationship with his mother. The rest of the trailer is accompanied by the discordantly upbeat sounds of Supertramp's "Goodbye Stranger" as Beau faces surreal horrors and an intriguing mix of feature film and animation, and "from his darkest fears comes to his greatest adventure," as it states.
The impressive cast includes Broadway legends Nathan Lane (“Only Murders in the Building”) and Pattie LuPone (“American Horror Story”), joined by Amy Ryan (“The Office”), Kylie Rogers (“Home Before Dark”) , Parker Posey (“Lost in Space”), Stephen McKinley Henderson (“Dune”), Denis Ménochet (“The French Dispatch”), Hayley Squires (“In the Earth”), Michael Gandolfini (“The Many Saints of Newark” ), and Zoe Lister-Jones (director of “The Craft: Legacy”).
As in his previous films, Aster directs from a script he wrote himself. He is joined by cinematographer Pawel Pogorzelski and editor Lucian Johnston, who worked with him on "Midsommar" and "Hereditary".“Beau Is Afraid” hits US theaters on April 21. We can not wait!
