These Galaxy phones will not get Android 13

Google will unveil Android version 13 this year, with the first smartphones likely to be available in the fall. Samsung has finally revealed which Galaxy devices will no longer receive Android 13 updates.

In 2020, Samsung, the world's leading smartphone manufacturer, began an effort. All of the company's cellphones are now receiving three new Android versions as upgrades. Furthermore, all monthly security updates are available for four years after the model's initial sale.

This rule applies to all new vehicles sold after 2019. The Samsung Galaxy S10 series debuted in 2019 with the Galaxy S10e, S10 Lite, S10 (optional with 5G), and S10 Plus models, as well as the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus.

These high-end smartphones were originally shipped with Android 9 and are now running Android 12. However, there will be no updates for Android 13, which will be launched later this year.

However, security upgrades for the S10 and Note 10 models will continue for at least a year. After 2023, security updates for the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series models may continue, but only at irregular intervals. Aside from the high-end devices, no other Samsung smartphones released in 2019 or prior should receive an update to Android 13.

However, because Android 9 is included, all model versions of the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 can use Project Treble. Google has separated the operating system into layers in order for individual OS components to continue receiving security upgrades via the Google Play Store.

Thanks to Project Mainline, all Android 10 smartphones now receive upgrades for specific OS components via the Play Store rather than the device maker.

Security upgrades for video codecs, the OpenGL graphics interface, the Documents UI, time zone data, and network components are among the most important.

Starting with the Samsung Galaxy S21, Samsung releases four new Android versions as upgrades and provides security updates for five years to all Galaxy smartphones that have been on the market since 2021.
