Volvo XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge

Volvo has unveiled two all-electric cars, the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge. Volvo's first electric SUV, the C40 Recharge, is a complete novelty and has already received a minor facelift.

Both models use the same unified platform as the combustion, plug-in hybrid, and electric versions, and are nearly equivalent in terms of function and performance. When it comes to typical features, we should highlight the battery storage, which has a raised section under the rear seats and a recess in the footwell, allowing you to sit relatively comfortably even in the back seats.

The vehicles are offered in two different power levels. The P6 Recharge has a front-wheel drive, a battery with a total capacity of 69 kWh and a useable capacity of 67 kWh, and an output of 170 kW with a torque of 330 Nm.

It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds and has a top speed of 160 km/h. According to WLTP, the XC40 P6 Recharge has a range of 423 km while the C40 P6 Recharge has a range of 434 km.

The battery in the P8 Recharge Twin has a total capacity of 78 kWh, of which 75 kWh is used. All-wheel drive vehicles are powered by a pair of synchronous electric motors with permanent magnets, each rated at 150 kW.

They function as stationary quad bikes with a power distribution of 40/60 or 50/50. The car boasts a respectable power output of 300 kW and a torque output of 660 Nm. As a result, the XC40 P8 Recharge can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and the C40 P8 Recharge in 4.7 seconds.

The built-in AC charger is three-phase and has an output of 11 kW, allowing you to charge up to 150 kW with DC charging. The manufacturer also made use of the empty space under the front hood by installing a front case with a volume of 32 liters, which is large enough to house charging cords and accessories.

From the outside, the C40 Recharge catches the new front with a frameless mask and new lights, which may be outfitted with matrix technology on request. The rear lights, which presage the new design line that the company will most likely introduce in subsequent models, were also redrawn with a discontinuous upper half.

The C40 Recharge comes standard with a panoramic roof that can be opened without opening the sunroof, compensating for the space loss caused by the lower, sloping crossover roof. On the plus side, nearly the same volume of the trunk has been preserved.

Because the infotainment system is based on the Android Automotive OS with Google services integrated, there is no need to use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Google Maps, which serves as navigation, is pre-installed, as is Google Assistant, which enables voice control, and there is a Google Play store where you can install additional apps.

Google Maps also has an electrical intelligence function built in that assesses and dynamically recalculates the battery balance in the destination based on navigation.

The instrument panel is made up of a big 12-inch display, which can also show a navigation map in the middle. The audio is handled by the Harman Kardon system.
