Watch Live: Captain Kirk flies into space at the age of 90

Today at T-90 minutes, actor  William Shatner (90), better known as Captain James T. Kirk from 'Sart Trek', will fly into space with the Blue Origin rocket and thus become the oldest astronaut so far.

Before him, the ‘record’ was held by Wally Funk, who was 82 in July, when she was with Jeff Bezos on a ‘sightseeing’ of space.

Still, Shatner’s journey into space will be far shorter and will only take ten minutes. The rocket will take the crew just across the Karman line 100 kilometers above the Earth.

Blue Origin has announced that the second passenger will be  Audrey Powers, the company’s vice president. They will be joined on the flight by  Chris Boshuizen, a former NASA engineer and co-founder of Planet Labs, and  Glen de Vries, co-founder of the Medidata Solutions clinical trial platform.

Shatner was scheduled to take off into space as early as Monday, however, Blue Origin delayed his journey due to strong winds.
