What will the next Apple TV look like
Although numerous reports from the previous WWDC 2022 led to the announcement of a new Apple TV, we finally did not witness a new gadget, nor did its operating system, tvOS, have a presence in the event's inaugural presentation. However, this does not imply anything in particular; after all, if every product rumor were unveiled in each keynote, Apple's inventory would be infinite.
Regardless, speculations of a new generation of Apple TV haven't ceased, and they point to an intriguing redesign that, if confirmed, would arrive somewhere in the second part of this year. As a result, we believe it is worthwhile to revisit the rumors that have been most prevalent in recent months and that, taken as a whole, suggest a new generation of Apple TV. Of course, as is customary when discussing rumors, we must proceed with caution.
The first thing we anticipate is an increase in its components, notably its SoC and RAM. According to reports, the next Apple TV will include an Apple A14 Bionic processor and 4 gigabytes of RAM. This implies a two-generation jump over the integrated model, as the current model includes an Apple A12 Bionic processor and three gigabytes of RAM. This is consistent with Apple's anticipation that the Apple TV will remain a gaming device.
It's also worth noting that this new version may include a new version of Siri Remote, the device's remote control. There is currently no data about it, however, after studying the iOS 16 beta, references to "SiriRemote4" and "WirelessRemoteFirmware.4" that do not relate to the current version were discovered. Unfortunately, this code does not reveal anything additional, but the new command appears to be very likely.
There are two noteworthy rumors about its marketing. On the one hand, there is one that believes Cupertino might develop a bundle that includes Apple TV, HomePod (we believe Mini), and a camera to put on the television. It seems logical for Apple to want to bring Messages and all of its new capabilities to Apple TV, and a pack like this would be the most appealing option for many people.
Another rumor claims that Cupertino is exploring a lower Apple TV, as the present pricing differential with competing devices, such as Google Chromecast and Kindle Fire TV Stick, is simply too great. For that purpose, it would make sense to use the debut of this new generation to keep an older version in the catalog with more modest specs, but at least closer to 100 than 150 dollars.
