Mel Coloma said that during the nineties, she was selected as a member of the group Spice girls among hundreds of candidates at the audition.
However, a few weeks later, the management contacted her and informed her that the plan had changed and that she would be replaced by young singer Victoria Adams - the same one we know today as Victoria Beckham, the owner of a successful fashion empire.
The reason why Melanie was replaced by Victoria is, to a lesser extent, unexpected: she was told to sing too well, which could overshadow the other members of the group.
She told the British Mirror a few years ago that until 1996 - two years later - she didn't even realize what an opportunity she had missed. “I thought it was none of that, considering that two years have passed and I haven't heard anything about them” - Melanie said a few years ago. “And then I saw them on TV. It was a group of which I almost became a member.”
Coloma is 47 years old today and works in the British National Health Service. She is still singing - performing with the band The Decanters on weddings and cruises.
And Victoria ... Well, we know what she's doing these days! And she is doing it quite well!
