We are used to the R&B diva always carrying the latest trends from the catwalk. So earlier this month, she was among the first ones to take a new Fendi bag, as well as the trainer of the newly formed Brain Dead label.
Still, she confirmed in her latest fashion show that she really knows the value of a good vintage designer piece. On a leisurely walk-through Los Angeles, Rihanna wore a pastel blue-pink outfit consisting of a 1996 Chanel tweed coat, a bright blue jumpsuit, and a Dior necklace that also dates back to the 1990s, when this fashion house was led by John Galliano.
The whole look is complemented by a white handbag and heels, which, although in the background, are no less effective.
Rihanna is not the only star to promote vintage pieces in this way. Recently, Kylie Jenner also wore a Versace top from 2005, and Dua Lipa a birthday dress that Naomi Campbell wore for Versace in 1999.
They are an example of how cyclical fashion is, and how modern and contemporary a trend can look, even if it originated several decades ago. Also, in this way, the sustainability that the fashion world desperately needs is promoted.
