20 years ago Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor became famous as Xena and Gabrielle, here’s what the lead actresses look like today
'Xena - Princess Warrior' was an unavoidable and favorite series, and actress Gabrielle shared how she and Xena look today, twenty years later
Actresses Lucy Lawless (53) and Renee O'Connor (50) first got introduced to the public when in the late '90s they played the roles of Xena and Gabrielle in the series' Xena - Warrior Princess'.
Ever since 2001, when the series ended, the actresses have no longer acted together. Now, 20 years later, O’Connor has announced that they have met again.
- I am excited to share that I spent the earlier part of this year with one of my dearest friends, Lucy Lawless, on the set of her series 'My Life is Murder' - the actress wrote with a photo of herself and Lawless.
‘My Life is Murder’ is a cheerful detective series in the style of ‘whodunnit’ and will premiere on August 30th.
“We were already trying to bring Renee to Australia last year and although that wasn’t possible at first, I decided to do it,” Lawless, better known to others as Xena, told Entertainment Weekly.
She added that she thinks this will be a ‘great gift to all fans', who have been hoping for their reunion for years.
- I wanted to escape the mandatory quarantine so I could see Lucy, and then she didn't recognize me! O'Connor admitted.
When asked about what it was like for them to work together after so many years, Lawless likened the experience to ‘getting into a hot tub’.
- It was so simple and good. Renee and I are not stuck in certain roles and we do not have a fixed point of view regarding our collaboration - she said.
O’Connor added that everything was ‘better than I expected’, especially since she hadn’t been actively acting for several years.
Although they had not had the opportunity to collaborate before, their friendship never ended.
- Lucy is like a sister to me. She is an extremely talented actress and always tries to do her best - O'Connor once described.
Their fans were just as excited as the actresses to be together again in front of the camera.
