A new trailer for the special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts has been released, which will premiere on HBO Max on January 1, 2022.
In the trailer, the actors remember the movies, as well as the festivities in the Great Hall. Watson said it seemed to her that "time has not passed at all, and a lot has passed."
“When things really get dark and times are really tough, there’s something about Harry Potter that makes life richer,” Watson said.
Radcliffe pointed out that he was "frightened by the implication that they had finished and already done the most meaningful thing in their lives", but that spending time with the team helped him realize that it was not the end.
Fans wrote in the comments that they are thrilled with the new trailer.
“Am I the only one who looked at this and felt like a little kid again?”, “This really awakens nostalgia,” “With this, my fondest childhood memories come back to me,” are just some of the comments.
Along with the main trio, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, the special will also host Robbie Coltrane who played Hagrid, Matthew Lewis who played Neville Longbottom, and Mark Williams who played Arthur Weasley.
Who else will we see?
In addition to them, the special will feature other actors who have embodied cult characters, such as Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), Tom Felton (Draco) Malfoy), James Phelps (Fred Weasley), Oliver Phelps (George Weasley), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas) and Evanne Lynch (Luna Lovegood).
Emma Watson also recently shared her excitement about the upcoming reunion:
“Harry Potter was my Home, Family, my World, and Hermione (still is) my favorite fictional character of all time. I think a journalist once said it was irritating how many times during an interview I mentioned how lucky I was and started counting… BUT I DAMN WELL KNEW!!! And still know. I am proud not just of what we as a group contributed as actors to the franchise but also as the children that became young adults that walked that path. I look at my fellow cast members now and I am just so proud of who everyone has become as people. I'm proud we were kind to each other that we supported one another and that we held up something meaningful.” – Emma Wrote.
Harry Potter author JK Rowling will not appear in the special. Recall, Rowling has come under fire for her controversial comments in recent years, and the last one was in July 2020, after she shared her views on the transgender community on Twitter.
