Actress Julianne Moore says the term "dignified aging" is "completely sexist"

For As If magazine, the 60-year-old actress described the term as "inherently judgmental."

"Is there a different way of aging? They don't have an option to choose, of course. No one has an option when it comes to aging so it's neither a positive nor a negative thing, it's just that."

"It's part of the human condition, so why then do we always talk about it like it's something we have control over?"

She added that she considers the term sexist because it is only used to describe women. "Shouldn't aging be linked to internal growth?"

"How do you continue to challenge yourself, take an interest in new things and learn them, be more useful to other people, be the person your friends and family want? How to evolve further? How to move through life and have even deeper experiences? That should be aging."
