Amazon's SF mystery series "Outer Range"
The focus of the story is the rancher Royal Abbott, who fights for his land and family, and discovers an unfathomable mystery on the edge of the Wyoming wilderness.
Amazon recently released the SF mystery series "Outer Range". The creator and executive producer of the series is Brian Watkins, while the directors are Alonso Ruizpalacios (Narcos: Mexico), Jennifer Getzinger (Westworld), Amy Seimetz (Atlanta) and Lawrence Trilling (Goliath). The main role is played by Josh Brolin, who we didn't have the chance to see in his TV role for about 20 years. Brolin is also one of the executive producers. Other producers include Trevor Baker, Naledi Jackson and Andrew Balek.
Brolin portrays Royal Abbott, an old-school cowboy, and patriarch tested by horrors both known and unknown. His daughter-in-law has disappeared, and the tension with the rival Tillerson family will soon boil into a 'real mush'. And as for the latter, a giant metaphysical void appeared on Abbott's estate. An alternate dimension? Aliens? Nightmares? The script patiently juggles mysteries, deploying new ones hour by hour until they all slowly begin to point to a pattern.

Then they are pushed even further to the brink when the Tillersons, the disreputable owners of the neighboring ranch, try to take away part of their land. An untimely death in the community sets off a chain of tension-filled events, and the small town's land dispute issues overlap with the arrival of a mysterious black void on the Abbotts' western pasture. Strange revelations unfold as Royal fights to protect his family. Through his eyes, we begin to see how time holds secrets that are kept in the past.
In the other roles are Lili Taylor (Perry Mason), Tamara Podemski (Four Sheets to the Wind), Tom Pelphrey (Ozark), Imogen Poots (I Know This Much Is True), Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick), Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek), Shaun Sipos (Krypton), Isabel Araiza (The Little Things), Olive Abercrombie (The Haunting of Hill House) and Will Patton (Yellowstone).
