Best dance movies of all time

We’ve made a list of some of the best movies where the main star is dancing, so curl up with a bowl of popcorn in front of your TV and enjoy the best dance movies of all time this week and for the weekend.

Billy Elliot

The fact that this film was inspired by an extremely successful Broadway musical should tell you enough. Billy is a boy from a small mining town in the UK who just wants to pursue ballet, so get ready for a real warm, touching and great dance story.

Dirty Dancing

The king of dance films, Dirty Dancing, is the story of Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman, who spends the time of her life with Johnny Castle, a dance instructor at the resort where her family spends summers. It’s hard to point out the best dance scene from the film, but probably the most famous one is the legendary last dance sequence. Be the best version of yourself.

Black swan

Opinions differ on whether this film is actually scary or not, but this list is not about the scariest movies, but about dance and Black Swan has a lot of dancing. Natalie Portman plays Nina, a young woman who desperately wants to get the lead role in the production of Swan Lake by her ballet house. Insert here a superior but handsome director, a competition in the form of Mile Kunis and a psychotic mom living through her daughter, and you’ll get a big ballet stew from a nightmare.

Step Up

Step Up is a romantic comedy about a young delinquent who helps a sleek girl from a dance school add some hip-hop moves to her big audition routine, but it’s actually the story of how Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan fell in love. Four sequels with other actors and slightly different stories followed, but this one is - without a doubt - the best.

Flashdance

Alex Owens is a welder during the day and a burlesque dancer at night who dreams of becoming a professional ballerina. It’s also important to note the super soundtrack that includes classics like “Maniac” and “Flashdance… What a Feeling”. We can agree that the sixties were truly special.
