She has sold 35 million albums in her career, but life has not spoiled her: "I am so grateful to be alive".
Alicia Keys celebrated her 41st birthday, and in the description of the photo that she posted on her Instagram, she delighted many fans.
" It's my birthday! I am so grateful to be alive! Thanks to every single person who surprised me last night. You made me so happy! I send great love for every birthday wish and prayer and for the beautiful energy you have sent me so far! I feel everything! Yesterday all day I had no idea what is going on or what was coming. Now I really don’t know what to expect! I know one thing, I celebrate every second because life is precious to waste time! I adore you!" wrote Alicia in the description of the photo. She release the seventh studio album in her career a few days ago.
Although she has won 15 Grammy Awards in her successful career and also is a proud mother of two, we can not forget that she sold 35 million albums and 30 million singles so far. Also, this birthday message has reminded many of Alicia’s difficult life journey.
"I'm the person who shouldn't have succeeded. I was supposed to end up as a prostitute, a young mother of 16, or a drug addict. I am exactly the one who should have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, ” she said in a recent interview. She refers these words to the plight of African Americans in American society, especially women.
She admitted that her music career saved her from the hell of drugs, prostitution, and a bad life. Alicia grew up in New York's Hell's Kitchen district, which at the time was a city with the most prostitution. Keys claims to have witnessed sad human stories since she was a child.
Recall, On December 10, she released a double album for which she commented that each story has two sides, as well as each song, writes People magazine. Namely, she explains that there are two versions of the album “Keys”, Originals and Unlocked, so the single Best Of Me came out in two versions. The musician adds that Originals comes from her classic side with classic expected sound, while Unlocked brings one slightly different audio story signed by producer Mike Will Made-It.
She broke into the music scene in 2001 with the single 'Fallin', with which she 'swept' the charts, but Alicia says she has never forgotten where she comes from.
