Britney's fiancé calling out Netflix because of documentary about the singer
Sam Asgari, Britney Spears' fiancé, criticized the streaming service for the film "Britney vs Spears", which documents the most turbulent years of the pop star's life.
Asgari wrote on Netflix's post sharing the teaser of the documentary that he hopes that the profits from the films will be donated to organizations that have advocated for the freedom of his fiancée Britney Spears.
He was also supported in such an idea by Bobby Campbell, the manager of pop star Lady Gaga, who wrote on Instagram that "Netflix is exploiting Britney Spears".
"How much money is being made by third parties from this documentary leveraging Britney's personal story and its value in the media?" Campbell wrote. "There needs to be transparency about how or whether the filmmakers are profiting from this doc, or if they are donating their fees to Britney's legal defense, or to legal defense funds to aide those who do not have the financial resources to fight against undue conservatorships. Even if it is in support of freeing Britney, this appears that it could be exploitative", he concluded.
Britney has not yet commented on the film, but after the New York Times published the documentary "Framing Britney Spears" earlier this year, the pop star wrote on Instagram that she felt ashamed, and she admitted: "I cried for two weeks after the premiere."
The film "Britney vs Spears" will have its premiere on September 28, just a day before the second-largest hearing of the singer, her father, and lawyer, when the verdict will finally be made - whether Britney is free or not.
