Did you watch: "The kill room" movie?
"The Kill Room" is one decent comedy worth watching.
The comedy "The Kill Room" belongs to those films that could have been more than excellent. So it's a shame they ended up dropping out - just decent. The heroine of the film is Patrice ( Thurman ) - a gallerist who runs a half-defunct New York gallery. Gordon ( Jackson ) is a criminal who ran out of money laundering solutions. Therefore, the desperate Patrice suggested a deal. Criminal "clients" will buy art in the gallery for absurdly large sums, the gallery owner will take the commission, and the gangsters will launder the money. One of the mafia executioners ( Joe Manganiello ) is given the task of erasing "art" with a brush. But - the unexpected happens. The art world meets the underworld when a money-laundering scheme accidentally turns a hitman into an overnight avant-garde sensation. The thematic heft of “The Kill Room” is enough to make it an intriguing and entertaining early work.
Jonathan Jacobson's screenplay had some of Billy Wilder's best films in it. That scenario also attracted the duo of brilliant actors from "Pulp Fiction" - Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson. A satire on the art world is woven into the script, which is both knowledgeable and entertaining. In the hands of a more experienced director, the film would have become something like "Ocean's 11" or "Burn After Reading". But that type of crime-comedy should be directed like a crime film and let the humor come out of the situation. Director Paone directed the film like a screwball comedy, letting the actors affect and ignoring the action-genre potential of the film. She didn't get as much out of the script as he offered, but the film is still entertaining and inventive. It was released in the United States on September 28, 2023. Watch it and you will not regret it!
