'Rust' director Joel Souza (48), who was injured by actor Alec Baldwin (63) in the tragedy on the set in which he fatally wounded director of photography Halyna Hutchins (42) by shooting from a prop gun, spoke out about the accident, writes the New York Post .
“I am gutted by the loss of my friend and colleague, Halyna. She was kind, vibrant, incredibly talented, fought for every inch and always pushed me to be better," Souza said in a statement for Deadline.

According to the report, the bullet, after passing through Halyna's body, hit Souza's collarbone. He was placed in intensive care, from which he was released on Friday.

"My thoughts are with her family at this most difficult time. Grateful for the statements of support we received from our film community, the people of Santa Fe, and the hundreds of strangers who approached us. That will definitely help me in my recovery," he said.
