Eight secrets of women who always smell good

1. Choose stronger scents
While citrus scents evaporate quickly, spicy and woody scents with notes like sandalwood linger longer on the skin. So if you want the perfume to last longer, choose the ones from the latter group.

2. Apply fragrance in layers
From shower gels to body lotions to oils, most favorite women's fragrances come in a variety of forms. This creates layers of scent that are felt throughout the day.

3. They know the best spot to apply perfume
Instead of on the wrist, they apply the perfume to warmer (and often more hidden) places on the body, such as the abdomen and chest, and behind the knees and ears. Due to the warmth of these parts of the body, the scent will be fully developed and the top, middle and base notes of the perfume will be fully felt.

4. Never rub the perfume in
Many women habitually rub their wrists against one another when applying perfume, but try to get rid of these habits. Namely, rubbing in the perfume loses the top notes, which is why only the middle and base notes will be felt, and the scent of the perfume will stay on the skin for a shorter time.

5. They know when it is best to apply the fragrance
The best time to apply the scent is just after showering, while the skin is still a tad wet. Moisture will allow the scent to stay on the skin longer. In addition, this way the scent will be absorbed and there will be no risk of staining your favorite blouse or the jewelry losing color when it comes in contact with freshly applied perfume or body oil.

6. Maintain the skin moistured

Always hydrate the skin before applying perfume. Dry skin usually absorbs a certain amount of scent, which makes the scent fade away faster. When the skin is hydrated, the perfume has something to "hold on to" and it lasts longer.

7. Keep perfumes in a good place
Exposure to heat and moisture destroys the fragrance molecules in the perfume, so avoid keeping perfume bottles in the bathroom. It is best to keep them in cool, dry parts of the house, such as on the top shelf of a closet.

8. Perfume should be applied at least twice a day
The skin is a living organ that breathes and cannot retain the scent indefinitely. That is why it is best to always have a bottle of perfume with you to refresh the scent you wear during the day and to always smell good.
