GRETA: The birth of the climate warrior

In the summer of 2018, 15-year-old Greta Thunberg begins her famous school climate strike. In just a few months, her ‘little protest action’ grows into a global movement, and a silent girl on the autism spectrum becomes a world-famous activist. In the biographical film, GRETA by Swedish documentary filmmaker Nathan Grossman which premiered in Venice, we follow her on her way to save the world.

Since launching the global movement, Greta has met a number of powerful politicians and other public figures, made known for her harsh address to heads of state at the United Nations, but also for motivating millions of young people around the world to think about climate changes. With her activism, she is trying to point out how dangerous climate change is, and drastic changes at the level of individual countries have not yet been adopted. The documentary GRETA follows the life of this young activist from the first climate strike, through a trip on a sustainable sailboat to the USA, to a series of speeches she gave in influential institutions around the world. It also shows her relationship with her family and her struggle with Asperger's Syndrome. In March 2019, Greta Thunberg was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and Time magazine named her Person of the Year.
