"Hocus Pocus" sequel is coming
The fantasy comedy "Hocus Pocus", shot in 1993, will get its sequel.
Although the original film "Hocus Pocus" failed at the box office, it became a kind of cult film among fans over time. Enough for Disney to decide to invest in a sequel.
Let us remind you, in the first film, the main character comes to Salem in the 17th century, where he tries to fit into the environment just before everyday life is enchanted by the appearance of three devil witches.
Now, almost 30 years later, three young women are inadvertently summoning three notorious witches to what is now Salem. Now they have to figure out how to stop them before they cause total chaos around the world.
The official cast for "Hocus Pocus 2" has been revealed and it includes the "original witches" Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy returning as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson. We will also see some new faces such as Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, and Belissa Escobedo.
The director of the new film is Anne Fletcher, whose feature films, mostly "light comedies", have so far been quite financially viable (Dumplin', Hot Pursuit, The Guilt Trip, The Proposal, 27 Dresses, Step Up).
"Fans around the world have embraced these characters and have made this film a Halloween tradition whose popularity continues to grow, and how lucky am I to be back at Disney with these three extraordinarily talented ladies in the iconic roles they created, as well as our fabulous additions to the cast?" Fletcher said in a press release.
The premiere of the film is expected in the fall of 2022.
