J. K. Rowling is celebrating love!
Her first husband beat her, she lived on social welfare, and today she is celebrating 20 years of marriage with a Scottish doctor.
Everyone knows the story of her success. After leaving her abusive husband, Portuguese journalist Jorge Arantes, JK Rowling, 56, moved into her sister’s Edinburgh apartment with underage daughter Jessica. As a single mother without a job, she focused all her energy on what she did best, better than others - it was writing.
Harry Potter soon became a world phenomenon and Rowling a millionaire, whose faith in true love was restored by Scottish doctor Neil Murray (50).
The couple got married on this day 20 years ago on her estate in Scotland. Her daughter from her first marriage, Jessica, 28, had the role of bridesmaid, and the whole ceremony was attended by 15 family members.
Together they have two children: son David Gordon (18) and daughter Mackenzie (16).
She married Portuguese Jorge Arantes in 1992 and they had a daughter, Jessica Arantes. Due to marital disagreements, the couple soon divorced and Joanne took a daughter and returned to Britain, living briefly with her older sister in Scotland.
During this period, Joanne was left without a mother and without a job, which inspired her for one of the most magical stories ever written. One night, when she couldn’t sleep, she got the idea for a story about a boy attending a witchcraft school.
