Jessica Chastain's difficult childhood!

Prominent American actress Jessica Chastain (44), winner of numerous acting awards, delighted last year with the role of Mira in the acclaimed series 'Scenes from married life'. She is married to producer Luca Passi de Preposula with whom she has two children.

She keeps her private life out of the public eye, but recently in an interview as a part of the promotion of the new film 'The Eyes of Tammy Faye' she revealed that she did not have a privileged life as a child.

Her mother raised four children on her own, and she gave birth to Jessica in her teens. They could barely survive, and Jessica had to get a job when she decided to enroll in the American Academy of Theater Arts, reports People magazine.

"There's no way my family could fund it," she said.

Later she received a scholarship to the prestigious Julliard Art School in New York City. In 2011, she got a big role in the film, which she took advantage of. Her first big role in the film ‘The Secret Life of Housewives’ earned her an Oscar nomination in the supporting actress category. The following year she was nominated in the Best Actress category for ‘Zero Dark Thirty’.

"I lived hard and made my way in life. Some people saw it and helped me. They allowed me to be where I am now" she told The Times. "I am the first person in my family who did not get pregnant at the age of 17. It had a big impact on my life because I had more choices," she said.

"I never think about how I could earn even more. I have a rebellious line because I have encountered a lot of injustice in my life. We didn’t have a lot of things, sometimes we went to bed hungry. I don’t like to talk about it, but that was my reality. I didn't have the kind of life you might expect from me."

"I am angry with injustice and poverty. I do not want anyone else to be denied anything," she said.

In an interview with the Irish Times in 2017, she spoke about her difficult childhood and pointed out that because of her mother, who had to work hard to feed her family, she always thinks about how other people live.

Recall, Jessica Chastain is an American actress and film producer. After playing small roles in television series, she made her big-screen debut with the independent film Jolene in 2008. In 2011, Chastain's popularity skyrocketed thanks to her work in seven different films.

For her performance in 'The Help' she was nominated for an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2012, Time magazine included her in its list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
