Joker 2 confirmed by director Todd Phillips
The first film was a great success and won 11 Oscar nominations.
The sequel to "Joker" is officially in preparation, and director Todd Phillips has revealed that the film will be called "Joker: Folie à Deux", which could be translated as "Madness for Two", Variety writes. Phillips, who is the director and co-writer of the first film "Joker" with Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role, reunites with Scott Silver in writing the sequel. Phillips shared the cover of the script and a photo of Phoenix reading it on his Instagram profile.
Although the details of the plot are very brief, Folie à Deux is defined as a rare mental disorder that affects two or more people with close emotional ties. Given that the Joker is known for being psychologically dependent on relationships with characters like Batman and Harley Quinn, this could be the story of the Joker and Harley, played by Margot Robbie in other adaptations.

The first film was released in 2019 as an independent production independent of the Batman films. This origin story follows Arthur Fleck, a lone clown in Gotham City who is brought to the brink as he goes through a transformation into the Joker. The film was heavily influenced by films such as "Taxi Driver" and "The King of Comedy", both directed by Martin Scorsese. Although there were no plans to continue the sequel, Warner Bros. allegedly hired Phillips to write the sequel, and he said he needed time to come up with ideas for the second chapter. Phoenix himself stated that he does not know about any plans for the second part, but that there are other stories that could be told about this character.
"Joker" achieved great success and won 11 Oscar nominations. He was awarded a gold statue in the category of best actor and best original music. Along with Phoenix, the cast includes Zazie Beets, Brett Cullen, Robert De Niro, Douglas Hodge, and Carrie Louis Putrello.
